Fremantle Hits

The Fremantle June O’Connor Centre Provides:
We welcome members to a sociable and warm atmosphere, laying a path to recovery through wellbeing initiatives. Skill and leisure enhancing activities are offered to develop confidence and self worth.

Tasty & Healthy Lunches: are provided for $3.00. Members are welcome to make suggestions for what they would like to have for meals at Fremantle. They can talk to staff or put ideas on a suggestions form. We encourage members to eat healthily and to exercise regularly. The meals are cheap, and members upon request can have a copy of the recipe of the day.

Fruit and Vegetables are generously donated to the centre by a market stall holder and members can take these home with them. This has made a big difference to members’ grocery bills.

In-House Activities: Building friendships and socialising play an important role. We offer in-house activities to our members - satisfaction is gained by learning new skills and confidence grows when they succeed. Encouragement and guidance is always given by staff.  In house activities include: Weekly Pool Competitions, Outdoor Sport Days, Table Tennis Competitions, Sewing Groups, Scrap Booking, Art & Craft Groups, Cooking Lessons, DVD Afternoons on our widescreen TV, Morning Teas, and many more group activities are enjoyed by all the members. There is also a computer room where members can access the internet for free.

Recreational Outings: With a focus on social integration and encouraging an active lifestyle, we run various outings. Costing is kept very low and is affordable for our members. The members enjoy each other’s company as well as the company of Fremantle staff.

Activities include twice weekly outings for coffee and a walk, op-shopping, movie outings, barbeques in the bush, swimming trips and twice yearly camping trips in the bush. Liaison with Ability Solutions has made new options available for outdoor activities such as waterskiing and Fishing. We have enjoyed many other outings such as visiting Abingdon Miniature Village in Mandurah, Whale Watching over Rottnest, The Royal Show, Rottnest Island day trip, June O’Connor’s birthday party at the Palms in Subiaco, Perth Mint, and trips to Museums, Art Gallery tours and visits to other June O’Connor centres.

Massage: Peter, a qualified masseur, comes to the centre every fortnight. Massages are $3 and are generally for relaxation, although remedial massage can be provided with an approval from a GP or psychologist. It is evident that Peter’s professional service has been highly beneficial to the members overall well-being and health.
